Samiro Yunoki

It’s no secret that I love all things about Japanese design and textiles but I especially love the katazome textile artists working in the mingei movement. Samiro Yunoki’s works are so gorgeous in terms of pattern and colour, he first was introduced to the Katazome technique by another of my favourites: Keisuke Serizawa.

There was recently an exhibition of Yunoki’s work in Tokyo that I wish I could have made it to. It was at the fantastic The Japan Folk Crafts Museum which I did get to visit in 2016 and I saw a couple of his pieces up close.
